Western MA Section Opening Celebration - June 15
The Western Mass Section of the Boston Society of Landscape Architects held its Opening Celebration on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the UMass Design Center in Springfield. Landscape Architects, UMass faculty, and other guests - about 30 in all - enjoyed the evening. Much of the discussion focused on potential activities of the Section and on how the Section could best serve BSLA members in the western part of the state.

Entry + Mid Level LA Positions

We are seeking one entry level landscape designer with zero to four years of professional experience to join our growing design team. Our ideal candidate will have strong design, graphic communication, computer, and technical skills as well as the ability and desire to work on challenging projects that involve the development of award-winning parks, playgrounds, town commons, athletic facilities and urban design improvements. This is a support position that provides an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their skills, gain professional registration and be an integral part of a company with an outstanding reputation. A bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture is required, as is a great attitude, references that can speak to your work ethic and abilities, proficiency in AutoCAD and digital rendering software including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp.
We are also looking for one mid-level landscape architect with four to eight years of professional experience to assist in managing our growing design team. Our ideal candidate will have similar skills as described above with a depth of experience in project management, successful project finance tracking, excellent client service, as well as the ability to inspire and mentor younger staff. A bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture is required, professional licensure is preferred. The ideal candidate will be a team player, have references that can speak to your ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, and an operating knowledge of AutoCAD and digital rendering software including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp. Duties for both positions will include assistance/leadership in the preparation of reports, master plans, design development drawings and construction documents and in administering project construction and client coordination/interface. Candidates must be able to travel locally in New England for project meetings.
