Volunteer Day Along the Charles
9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Community Rowing Boat House
Please RSVP by Thursday, April 8 to ChapterOffice@BSLAweb.org
BSLA to assist the Charles River Conservancy for a volunteer work day
to celebrate Landscape Architecture Month.
Please join us for a morning along the Charles River with your fellow Landscape Architects and members of the Community Rowing community.
Our work will involve clearing a neglected section of park just upstream of Community Rowing and the Department of Conservation and Recreation's public boat launch. We'll meet at 9:00 am by the Conservancy Dump truck (parked near the boat launch). This work will improve vistas and sight along the river as well as open up an overgrown section of park. We'll be using loppers and other hand-tools to remove invasives and sight-blocking growth, and the Department of Conservation and Recreation may bring along a chipper to maximize the amount of work we can accomplish.
Also, teenage children are welcome to come with their parents to help out.
Instructions on arrival: Please check in with Ray Dunetz, BSLA President, upon your arrival and prior to beginning work.
Charles River Conservancy contact person for project: John Broderick, 503-504-0458 Mobile phone.
Participants should bring:
- Appropriate outdoor work clothes (these clothes should be warm, and could get dirty)
- Work boots or sturdy old shoes
Charles River Conservancy will provide:
- Tools
- Supervision
- Work Permits
- Water
Note: Bathrooms are not available on site and are a reasonable walk away.
Please RSVP by Thursday, April 8 to ChapterOffice@BSLAweb.org.

Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LA CES) Approved Provider!! As you know Continuing Education Unit credits are key to keeping your professional license current.
So what is LA CES?
The Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System is a collaboration of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards, Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board, and Landscape Architecture Foundation.
LA CES establishes, maintains, and enforces standards for evaluating professional development and continuing education programs for landscape
architects.
Individuals who complete a seminar/course receive a certificate of completion. Participant records and course materials will be kept on file at the Chapter Office in accordance with LA CES guidelines.
Please note: Seminars and courses presented by the BSLA do not always meet LA CES guidelines. Seminars and courses which do will be noted at being so.
Information regarding upcoming CEU credit courses presented by BSLA will be posted in the monthly EBulletin and at BSLAweb.org. For additional information regarding LA CES and available courses visit http://laces.asla.org.
